Connecticut Day Care Centers

Connecticut state laws require that the operators of Connecticut day care centers be of a minimum of twenty years of age. And (of course) the operator of a day care center can be an organization or institution. While the laws of Connecticut provide for monitoring inspections, especially surprise inspections, and require that teachers or staff in the day care center have a degree or credentials in child care, there are nevertheless weaknesses in the Connecticut system. One of the weaknesses is that a director in Connecticut day care centers is not required to possess a college degree in child care or a related field. Similarly, staff are not required to have training in emergency and safety, such as, for example, in fire safety. Neither is parental involvement addressed. However, the program requirements for day care centers are high enough that they offset most of the other issues I've mentioned.
